BAGUIO CITY – The city government here is allocating is PHP190 million for 46 infrastructure projects, including a multi-level parking building beside the capitol.
Major projects will receive PHP91.3 million while community-level initiatives will have a budget of PHP38.7 million, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said in an interview Monday.
The parking building can accommodate 60 to 80 vehicles for clients and employees, addressing current roadside parking congestion.
“We will fast-track the projects to ensure not just safety but the convenience of the public using the roads and passing beside riprap walls,” Magalong said.
Rodrigo Martinez, engineer at the city engineering office, said the projects this year include road repairs, retaining walls, sidewalks and drainage systems. He said the city manages 260 kilometers of local roads. A four-story collapsible parking facility is also in the planning stage.
Meanwnhile, the Bids and Awards Committees, both on infrastructure and goods, will stream bid opening procedures via the Baguio City Public Information Facebook page every Thursday and Friday.
Magalong directed the real time streaming of the process as part of the transparency thrust of the city government. **Liza Agoot
