IN ACTION: As heavy rains continue to affect communities across the Cordillera, police officers of the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) remain on the ground, responding to emergencies and assisting those in need despite flooded roads, rising waterways, and hazardous conditions in the provinces of Benguet and Abra on August 9, 2026.
In Benguet, the dedication of police officers was highlighted in an appreciation post shared on the “Barangay Tawang Tanod” Facebook page, commending the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) for promptly assisting a resident who collapsed while rain poured heavily. Together with the Binnadang Society and other volunteers of Brgy. Tawang, La Trinidad, the responders worked swiftly to assist the patient and facilitate safe transport to the hospital for immediate care.
Meanwhile, in Abra, personnel of the Boliney MPS, in partnership with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Boliney Rural Health Unit (RHU), went beyond ordinary routes to bring a recently discharged patient safely home in Brgy. Kilong-olao, Boliney. When floodwaters and strong currents made the usual passage impassable, responders transferred the patient from the stranded ambulance and continued the journey using available emergency vehicles.
As another flooded creek and a landslide blocked their path, the team turned to a traditional method known as “Bulig,” using a bamboo-and-blanket stretcher to carefully carry the patient across the difficult terrain.
From answering emergency calls in the middle of a downpour to navigating dangerous waters just to prioritize the safety of patients, these acts of service reflect the PNP’s commitment to the community.
