PRO CAR’s Weeklong Drug Ops Yield Over P50.3M Worth of Illegal Drugs; Four Drug Personalities Arrested
In its continued efforts to protect communities and suppress illegal drug activities, the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) successfully conducted a weeklong series of anti-illegal drug operations from August 17 to 23, 2026, resulting in the seizure of more than P50.3M worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of four drug personalities.
PRO CAR conducted a total of nine anti-illegal drug operations during the week, consisting of five marijuana eradication operations and four buy-bust operations.
Through these operations, PRO CAR uprooted 191,250 fully grown marijuana plants, 100,049.74 marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, 2,000 marijuana seedlings and confiscated 0.98 grams of shabu, with a total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP50,342,632.80.
Moreover, of the four individuals arrested all were listed as Street Level Individuals (SLIs).
The most significant operations took place in Kalinga, where the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) eradicated marijuana plants with an SDP of PhP50,200,000.00. This was followed by operations in Benguet, where the Benguet PPO confiscated illegal drugs worth PhP135,968.80 and arrested one SLI, and in Baguio City where operatives of the Baguio City Police Office seized illegal drugs worth PhP6,664.00 and apprehended three SLIs.
The operations reflect PRO CAR’s continuing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Cordillera through sustained police operations, intensified intelligence gathering, and strengthened coordination with partner agencies and communities.
A carry of care: Police and fire heroes in action
Despite the challenging weather conditions, police officers from the Kibungan Municipal Police Station of Benguet Police Provincial Office immediately responded to assist an elderly woman who required urgent medical attention in Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet, on August 22, 2026.
PCpl Jhunlee I Bayao, a member of PSBRC Class 2016 “Makatindig-01,” and Pat Lester A Ediong, a member of PSBRC Class 2020-05 “Sibat-Talas,” worked alongside personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Kibungan to manually carry the elderly woman through rough terrain and safely transport her to the Rural Health Unit-Kibungan for initial medical attention.
Following assessment, she was referred to Benguet General Hospital for further evaluation and appropriate treatment.
For these officers, it was simply part of their duty. But for the woman they helped, their timely response meant something more—a reminder that behind every uniform is a person ready to serve with heart, courage, and compassion. **
