BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan commended the local Filipino-Chinese community for their continuous “solid and unwavering” partnership with the city government in serving the people of Baguio especially during times of calamity.
Domogan pointed this out in Monday’s formal launching program of this year’s Spring Festival or Chinese Lunar New Year ushering in the Year of the Fire Rooster with officers and representatives from various local Filipino-Chinese organizations in attendance.
“Through thick and thin, good times and bad, our brothers and sisters from the Filipino-Chinese community have always been there to assist the city government in serving the public,” the Mayor said.
He added that the Filipino-Chinese community has played a major role in the history and development of Baguio and continuous to do so in various facets of society.
Spring Festival in Baguio 2017 chair Peter Ng thanked the Mayor and other officials for giving importance to the celebration and making it a part of the city’s annual activities for the past 18 years or more, the first local government unit in the country to do so.
A local businessman and civic-leader, Ng also heads the Baguio-Filipino Cantonese Foundation –Cordillera Administrative Region.
For his part, Congressman Mark Go explained that the event emphasizes the importance of giving and showing love for our family, fellowmen, community, country including the work we do or business we engage in.
Domogan and Go are the Honorary Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively, of this year’s Spring Festival in Baguio celebration.
