LA TRINIDAD, Benguet– The “No entry, No permit’ scheme for livestock products whether live or processed including fish commodities and chicken dung shall be enforced along major quarantine checkpoints in the province with the full implementation of the animal quarantine ordinance this February 1.
Provincial Veterinary Head Dr. Miriam Tiongan said the animal quarantine ordinance imposes fines for violations. But she stressed they are not after the collection of fines but the safety of the public and consumers such as the case of entry of double dead animals unfit for human consumption.
Moreover, this aims to prevent or minimize the entry of trans-boundary animal diseases which may affect the livelihood of local livestock raisers.
Designated quarantine checkpoints are at Poyopoy in Tuba along the Palispis-Aspiras Highway/Marcos Highway; Banangan, Sablan in Naguilian Road; Camp 1, Tuba in Kennon Road; Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya along the Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road; Benguet-Ilocos Road along Cervantes-Mankayan-Buguias Road; Gaswiling, Kapanngan along La Union-Kapangan Road; Bangao, Buguias along Mt Province and Benguet boundary; Buguias and Tinoc, Ifugao boundary including other entry points to the province.
Those engaged in the livestock business who will traverse the entry points are required to present animal health certificate and a veterinary shipping permit for live livestock. For processed products, a license to operate from the Food and Drug Administration including certificate of product registration are required. For fish, an auxiliary invoice should be secured.
For chicken dung, a health certificate and a veterinary shipping permit are also required.** PIA Benguet
