Just last week, we had the honor of attending a wonderful wedding. A grand celebration that took place for nearly three days. And an even longer time for the preparation. However, with the help of every family member, friends and acquaintances, the wedding proceeded in a smooth and timely manner. The sound of joy and laughter could be heard all day long. Undoubtedly seeping through the nearby surroundings.
Unfortunately, the laughter became even more obnoxious by the time alcohol started being passed around. From then, a different kind of joy was being shown. When the words started to slur, and more and more old men started to stumble, the party could not be stopped. Even then, you could always count on at least one drunk to perform in front. Ensuring the laughter to continue and keeping the party going.
By the time nightfall came, the roaring voices of joy still echoed through. The drunks that persisted on dancing even showed some impressive moves. Bodies that would naturally be riddled with fatigue, instead swayed naturally and flexibly. Even ones who would normally not participate in these kinds of events, somehow ended up stealing the spotlight. A glass of gin really does work wonders.
Aside from the drunks, memorable moments were also being made by the people around. Distant family members met again. Uncles and aunties we had not seen in a long time were surprised at our growth. We expressed our respects and greetings to our lolos and lolas from the province. All in all, the event was one big memorable moment for all who attended. But no other people found it more special than the groom and the bride.
Months and months of preparation culminated right in front of them. All the accumulated stress and anxiety seemingly disappeared. It was all worth it in the end. The smiles and laughter of so many people was a wonderful sight. And their desire and wish for each other finally granted.
Now, nearly a week has passed, and like the others, we are left in such a blank state. Not one of depression nor excitement, simply blank. Even simple school modules from before seem to be currently beyond our capabilities. And as things are, they may have to remain as past thoughts.
The event truly left that big of an impact in our heads. And we are left wondering how to move on. Perhaps there is no need to leave it behind. Such a beautiful memory truly deserves its own spot in our minds. Yet, as we keep on living, grand moments will surely come again our way. These memories do not need to be left behind. Instead, they deserve to be cherished and taken care of. Eventually, they become a part of us, becoming something integral. Forming a character in our mental landscape as wonderful as our cherished memories are.
