BAGUIO CITY – A 35-year old photographer afflicted with an aggressive type of cancer is appealing for help amid hopes of overcoming his disease so his family can return to their normal life.
Ernesto Ariones, of San Luis barangay here, has remained optimistic despite his affliction with non-Hodgkins lymphoma (aggressive type) and other complications.
“He is very hopeful that he will soon overcome his present predicament and go back to work so he could again provide for his wife (Luzviminda) and children (Aeriel, 10 and Airish Mae, three),” Social Welfare Officer I Annie Germaine Alngangeo of the City Social Welfare and Development Office said.
After his diagnosis in October 2015, Ernesto was required to undergo eight cycles of chemotherapy.
He is now in dire need of financial assistance to complete the chemo sessions that cost P18,500 each.
Annie Garmaine Alngangeo said the amount is “far beyond the economic capability of the family” that now relies solely on Luzviminda’s measly wage of P250 daily as a beautician.
Ernesto’s brother, other relatives and friends have been contributing to the family’s daily expenses but there is no fund left for his treatment and other medical needs.
Despite this, “the family relationship was observed to be harmonious and despite their predicament, they still remain optimistic that they will soon go back to their normal functioning. They are very thankful because they have friends and relatives who had been offering them emotional support,” Alngangeo noted.
Ernesto is presently confined at home. “He could move but still needs to be assisted.”
Those who would like to help the family may get in touch with them at their home at 11 Skyrise Subd., San Luis or call 09105677440 or 09468213071. **Aileen P. Refuerzo
