BAGUIO CITY – With the expected gridlock traffic due to the influx of tourists and the people’s annual trip to cemeteries or memorial parks, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) has issued a traffic advisory on Nov. 1, All Saints Day.
During the coordination meetings early this month, BCPO Director Ramil Saculles assured the public of police presence in the Baguio City, Bakakeng, Benin public cemeteries and memorial parks in Loakan and Kias.
Saculles said, as to Oplan Kaluluwa, only emergency vehicles, water delivery, ambulance and police vehicles are allowed inside the Baguio cemetery.
One-way roads, from 5 AM of November 1 until the activity is over, are: Quirino Highway, from Buhagan Road junction to Dominican Road; San Luis Road from Quirino Highway, from Buhagan Road junction to Dominican Road; Dominican Road, from Quirino Highway Junction to Queen of Peace Road; San Luis Road from Quirino Highway junction to San Luis/San Roque junction; San Roque Street; Sofia de Veyra Street; First Road Quezon Hill, from Quirino Highway Junction to Ponce Street; and Sepic Road, from Ferguson Road junction to Buhagan Road junction.
There shall be no parking in the following areas: inside the Baguio Cemetery; Buhagan Road junction to Ferguson Road junction; Ferguson Road junction to 2nd Road Quezon Hill; 2nd Road Quezon Hill junction to San Luis Road junction; Queen of Apostles Road; from station 1 to the entrance of Baguio Cemetery; from Baguio Cemetery entrance to San Carlos Heights junction.
Loading and unloading is definitely not allowed at the cemetery entrance; while it is allowed at the following areas: road space before the 2nd Road of Quezon Hill; road space before Dominican; infront of Recoletos seminary; road space after the entrance of Baguio Memorial Cemetery (BMC); road space before the First Road of San Carlos Heights; road space before Shangrila Subdivision entrance; Persons with Disability (PWD)/Senior Citizen loading and unloading area.
Trucks and buses are not allowed along Qurino Highway. Motorists from the central business district can load/unload passengers at the cemetery but have to make a U-turn at 1st or 2nd Road, San Carlos Heights before proceeding to point of destination. The exit towards the CBD is through Dominican Road, Queen of Peace or Queen of Apostles Road to destination.
Taxicab passengers to and from the cemetery shall be loaded/unloaded at the back of Police Station 1, infront of Recoletos seminary; and back to the central business district through Dominican Road to Queen of Peace or Queen of Apostles Road.
Quirino Highway-bound Public Utility Jeepneys going to CBD shall turn right to Dominican Road, take either Queen of Peace or Queen of Apostles Road to their terminal. Passengers from CBD going to the cemetery shall be unloaded at the junction of 1st Road, San Carlos Heights.
Jeepneys passing through Asin Road to the CBD shall take San Roque Road, Dominican Road to Queen of Peace or Queen of Apostles to their terminal. Passengers from the CBD going to the cemetery shall be unloaded at the back of Station 1, infront of Recoletos seminary.
Dominican PUJs going to the CBD shall take Queen of Peace or Queen of Apostles Road. Unloading of passengers shall be at the road space before the junction of Quirino Highway-Dominican intersection.
Quezon Hill jeepneys going to CBD take Fairview Road, Ferguson Road to Buhagan Road; or take the 2nd road towards Quirino Highway, Dominican Road, Queen of Peace or Queen of Apostles Road, and unloading of passengers is at the road space before the junction of Quezon Hill.
PUJs taking Ferguson Road towards CBD shall take Sepic Road to Buhagan Road towards their terminal.
Motorists from La Union may take the Circumferential Road or Lamtang/Longlong Road towards the central business district or La Trinidad, Benguet.
A ban for trucks and buses will be implemented along Quirino Highway from the junction of Buhagan Road up to the junction with the Irisan-Circumferential Road (Munoz st). From 5 AM until 12 midnight of November 1, trucks and buses must take Marcos Highway or Lamtang-Longlong, Tam-awan road as diversion routes. ** juliegfianza
