BAGUIO CITY— It’s all systems go for the regional conduct of Dagyaw 2021 on October 26, 2021, an official said today.
“All aspects of preparation for Dagyaw 2021 are now being finalized, particularly the regional Dagyaw episode topic, program flow, and other matters pertaining to the organization of the virtual town hall dialogue,” said Officer-In-Charge Regional Director Araceli San Jose of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
“Dagyaw”, a Hiligaynon word which means “togetherness” emphasizes the importance of Bayanihan as a way to move towards a stronger and greater nation.
RD San Jose explained that Dagyaw 2021 will focus on topics and issues surrounding local service delivery, in the context of the COVID-19 Recovery Efforts of the country as well as the changes being implemented under the Supreme Court (SC) Ruling on the Mandanas-Garcia Case.
“The virtual dialogue will also increase awareness among Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the national and local government efforts to implement the provisions of EO 138 s. 2021 or the Full Devolution of Certain Functions of the Executive Branch to Local Governments, including the status of preparation of LGU Devolution Transition Plans (DTPs).
She added that Dagyaw 2021 will serve as an avenue for citizens and the government to hold discussions on local service delivery in the context of the COVID-19 Recovery Efforts of the country.
“The outputs of these dialogues will also serve as key references of the government in public decision-making, and in shaping and updating government policies that can lead to better public sector performance and service delivery,” OIC-RD San Jose said.
This program brings together government officials, representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the academe, think-tanks, and international organizations to share their knowledge, recommendations, and their programs and projects for their respective sectors.
The “Dagyaw” series of virtual dialogues are made possible through the combined efforts of various government agencies led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), and the Philippine Information Agency- Cordillera (PIA), in close cooperation with the Concerned Citizen of Abra for Good Governance (CAGG), Igorota Foundation Inc. Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation Inc (JVOFI), Integrated Abilities of Ecological Legacies (INABEL), Peoples Organization for Social Transformation (POST), North Luzon Federation of Cooperatives and Development Center, Kalinga Bodong Council, Pilipina Inc., and Child and Family Service Philippines, Inc (CFSPI).
