Last national election, I did not vote for Bongbong Marcos but I was resigned to his winning the vice presidency before midnight of election day. The gap was very big there was no way Robredo could catch up. Or so I thought. But early morning of the next day, Robredo was already ahead. How did that happen?
It was a mystery and will remain a mystery. Can it happen again? It definitely can. Now I am for Robredo and if it happens again, I will be celebrating.
While having an automated election means faster results, it can also mean easier cheating. Perhaps all it might take is the pressing of some keys on a computer keyboard.
During this Duterte administration, we have virtually become the province of China. If the election results would be subverted to avoid that from being consummated, I really could not care less. The latest reason is, I still have a strong feeling the Covid-19 virus is chinky eyed. That is, among other things.
Then there is this other hope we will be free from the clutches of the Middle Kingdom through another way. As some people with creative imagination are saying, the CIA does not enjoy watching Philippine officials kowtowing to the high and mighty in the Middle Kingdom. That is a big threat to their being the most powerful on this planet. Not to mention the threat to the imperialistic hegemony of its big corporate citizens in this part of the world.
For our brothers who have bleeding hearts for our masses, they have to cheer for Uncle Sam as not doing so would allow the Chinese to be eating our lunch, not just those of our beloved fishermen whose lives are dependent on the fishes in the Pacific and in the South China sea.
Well packaged shabu often bobbing around our islands and around our neighbor countries might also disappear. The technique of making the people of a country drug addicts, thus useless and subservient, is the best way to conquer it without even dropping a small bomb.
Moreover, hitching our future with that of China is the wrong move. China will always be second fiddle to the United States for one very good reason. The best resource of a country is its human resources. As of now, the best and the brightest around the world are hoping to get a green card someday. Somehow, American politicians are waking up to the wisdom of making that easier. One politician, Bloomberg, was even proposing for the US government to automatically give green cards to scholars once they qualify to have US visas.
The other bad news for Bongbong Marcos is he could still be disqualified from becoming president. That legal threat still remains and it can happen after his proclamation. If he is proclaimed as president and Sara Duterte as vice president, his subsequent disqualification would mean Sara getting elevated to the highest position on the land. But, God forbid, that would be another six years a Duterte at the helm.
Will Uncle Sam allow that to happen? It might not. After all, it might just take click clicking on a few keys on a computer keyboard.
Anything can happen. Especially in the Philippines.
