PUDTOL, Apayao– Of the 26 scholarship slots allotted for the Cordillera region, Apayao province got 14 slots, three belonged to the component of Fisheries Industry Leaders Grant (FILG) and 11 were under the Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG) through the BFAR’s Fisheries Scholarship Program.
The FSP offers a four-year degree in Bachelor of Science in Fisheries. The said incoming FSP scholars, according to Regional FSP Coordinator Irene P. Tanyag, had qualified in the recently concluded National Qualifying Examination held on December 5, 2020. Each scholar is entitled to the following financial privileges: monthly stipend (P5000); book allowance (P2000); OJT support (P3,000); thesis support (P7000); and graduation support (P1500).
RD Lilibeth L. Signey, Provincial Fisheries Officer Meynard V. Domingo and Governor’s Office Representative Thomas Pumbaya spearheaded the awarding of scholarship certificates held in Alem, Pudtol.
Also, Dr. Eunice A. Layugan, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Marine Science of the Cagayan State University-Aparri campus, together with Mr Quirino G. Pascua, were also invited. They had joined the activity to enlighten the incoming college students about the sought degree. Dr. Layugan shared the CSU is identified as National University for College of Fisheries in Region 2.
With their parents/guardians, the scholars were briefed with the Fisheries Administrative Order No. 257-1 series of 2020 or the guidelines of the said program and explained to them the documentary requirements needed for the enrolment. The first semester for school year 2021-2022 will commence in August.**
