BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA) — Eleven talented students from various national high schools in Mountain Province exhibited their painting skills during the second edition of Art in the Park at the Provincial Plaza in line with the celebration of National Tourism Day on September 28, 2023.
Angel Baybay, the Officer-in-Charge of the Provincial Tourism Office, said the event aimed to foster youth awareness about tourism through the lens of arts and creativity.
“Let them be the participants themselves for them to know the significance of tourism in their community and in their land,” he said.
Ezra L. Kidweng of Besao National High School bagged the first place while Jusky M. Bitaga representing Sabangan National High School took the second place. Carl Andrae D. Beyden of Besao NHS, Sherlyn Rea B. Wacnang of Sabangan NHS, and Jerylwin P. Codyao of Natonin National High School placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Winners will be representing the province in the Regional Art in the Park to be held in Baguio City.
Phoebe Samdhao, a first-time coach from Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School, expressed how this event provided a platform for students to display their artistic abilities.
“Through this, we learn more about arts specifically about our culture. Dito din pinapakita yung talent ng aming mga students,” she said.
