BAGUIO CITY – Baby boy Ethan Elijah Abubo, born at 3:49 a.m. last Dec. 25 at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, is this year’s Silahis ng Pasko Lucky Christmas Baby.
The second child of construction worker Denton, 29, and housewife Maricel Abrasado, 30, of Batuan, Nangalisan, Tuba, Benguet, baby Elijah was born through normal delivery weighing 2.97 kg with the help of attending physician, Dr. Eric Dugong.
His elder brother Franklin is 14.
The baby received prizes consisting of cash gift, baby clothes and baby blankets courtesy of search benefactor balikbayan Josephine Delinela who has been supporting the project for the past years with husband Bonnie (Bonnie died recently but the widow pledged to continue the tradition), blanket and a cavan of rice from CSWDO, food and goodies from the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs and the Federation of Baguio Senior Citizens Association, Blessed Association of Retired Persons Foundation Inc. (BARP) and the Philippine Government Retirees Association (PGRA).
The annual Quest for Lucky Christmas Baby was spearheaded by the city government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Betty Fangasan, the National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB) led by former councilor Narciso Padilla, the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and Baguio balikbayans.
Padilla said the selection of the lucky baby was done midnight of the 24th while the awarding was conducted last Dec. 26 at 9 a.m.
The same procedure will be done for the Search for the Lucky New Year Baby on New Year’s eve. The lucky baby will be awarded on Jan. 2 with prizes courtesy of retired US Navy Angel Villaralbo.
Social welfare aide Dolores Busacay said Elijah’s mother who hails from Bacolod City and father from Nangalisan met through social media site Facebook where they developed friendship and later on a romantic relationship that led to their marriage last May 23, 2017.
Franklin is Maricel’s child from her past relationship but whom Denton now considers as his own child.** Aileen P. Refuerzo
