BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The local government here is anticipating the influx of tourists and visitors this Holy Week and summer.
City Tourism Operations Officer II Rachelle Ann Montoya, during the Ugnayang Panlungsod on Wednesday, said they are expecting more tourists and visitors to have their vacation in the city during the Lenten holidays from April 6-10. She said their analysis of pre-pandemic tourist arrivals data indicates that “more tourists flock to the city during Holy Week after Christmas.”
Montoya enjoins visitors and tourists to check on the Baguio VISITA app which is now a booking platform for accommodation, tour services, among others.
City Tourism Operations Officer II Rachelle Ann Montoya said during the Ugnayang Panlungsod on March 29.
“We’re still encouraging our tourists to check out accommodation establishments in Baguio VISITA to make sure po that they are transacting and dealing with legitimate businesses po,” Montoya said.
She also appealed to tourists and visitors to be responsible and check the existing protocols and policies of the city.
“What we are asking from our visitors is, of course, to still become responsible tourists in all aspects, respect our culture, our current policies in the city,” she said.
Meanwhile, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in cooperation with the Baguio City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, City Health Services Office together with volunteers will position motorists and tourist’s assistance centers in strategic areas from April 6 to 9.
“Strategic positioning ang mangyayari. Dadalhin natin itong mga resources natin kung saan alam natin na talagang dadagsain ng tao. They could actually assist in the flow of traffic, information management also,” CDRRM Officer Louie Glenn Lardizabal said.
