BAGUIO CITY – The Muaythai Association of the Philippines (MAP)-Baguio City Federation will host a “National Muaythai Open” slated on October 27 to 30 at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-Teachers Camp, here.
In a letter to Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Federation president Bryan Olod said winners of the tournament will represent the Summer Capital and their respective local government units in future events of the MAP, PSC and Philippine Olympic Committee.
“This event will also serve as avenue for young Muaythai fighters to showcase their talents inside the ring and to show the world that Cordillerans are still a team to beat in terms of Combative sports,” he stated.
The four-day activity is in line with the city’s sports program in support of the continuing “Grassroots Sports Development Program” of the National Sports Association and the PSA-Cordillera Administrative Region.
The event is organized by the MAP-Baguio Federation in coordination with the City Sports Office headed by Gaudencio Gonzales aimed at discovering and developing local athletes who could excel not only in national competitions but even in the international arena.
