BAGUIO CITY, Sept.30 (PIA) —The City’s regular bicycle Sunday which promotes health and wellness, environmental protection, camaraderie and bike as alternative and sustainable transportation, continues to gain support.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the regular Sunday bike is a wellness program to keep oneself healthy and develop a strong immune system to fight COVID-19.
“Everybody is just excited and looking forward to the weekend Sunday bike run. We have different routes to pass through and our bikers have become more disciplined. We have also marshals to maintain safety throughout the route to avoid accidents especially with the younger ones,” Magalong said.
In the bike event last Sept. 20, Secretary Vince Dizon, the National Action Plan Against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer and television host Kuya Kim Atienza joined the mayor in the 20-km route participated in by more than 200 bikers.
Dizon said he is happy that Mayor Magalong organized the Sunday bike event amidst the Covid pandemic stressing that life must go on.
“We are happy because what we want to happen here is to somehow return what we were used to doing before just like biking and walking, but again we need to be protected by wearing face masks and observing social distancing.
Magalong assured that the Sunday bike event looks like a mass gathering but physical distancing of three meters apart and the wearing of face mask adn shielld are being strictly implemented. ** JDP/JBZ- PIA-CAR
