Bauko, Mountain Province– For the first time in the region, the municipality of Bauko was awarded second place in the Most Competitiveness: Government Efficiency Pillar for 3rd to 6th class municipalities in the Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) in the just concluded 5th Regional Competitiveness summit conducted last August 16, 2017 at the Reception Hall, Philippine International Convention Center.
The CMCI is a program which encourages Local Government Units (LGUs) to gather and submit data which will be used to measure their performance in four pillars. These are: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, infrastructure and resiliency. The framework of the CMCI is drawn from the goal to make the country globally competitive through measuring local competitiveness. This measurement tool is positioned to empower the LGUs to gauge their current level of competitiveness against global standards, identify areas for improvement and growth, and launch reforms and initiatives to further boost local competitiveness. It is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitive Council Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the united States agency for International Development.
Ranking for the Government Efficiency Pillar among 3rd to 4th class municipalities were 1st: Cardona, Rizal, 2nd Bauko, Mountain Province, 3rd Baras, Rizal. Quezon City topped the overall most competitive cities and municipalities.
The award was received by Mayor Abraham B. Akilit, VM Bartolo Badecao, SB members Susan Awisan, Ricky Samidan, Labor Masidong, Arcadio Taganas, RD directors Myrna Pablo, Milagros Rimando and Marlo L. Iringan.
