LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) – The new Sangguniang Panlalawigan members conducted their first regular session on July 4 adopting two resolutions to set the legislative body in motion.
The SP composed of new Vice Governor Ericson Felipe as the presiding officer, six re elected board members and four new comers, and four ex officio members, adopted Resolution 2022-01, “Adopting the Internal Rules of Procedure of the 11th Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Benguet,” and Res. No 2022-02 or the “Reorganizing the Composition of the Standing Committee of the 11th Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Benguet.”
“We are happy that we came into an agreement with the senion board members and the new board members on the selection of the committees,” Felipe said.
The chairperson of the different standing committees as follows: BM Florencio Bentres – Committee on Personnel and Administration and Committee on Finance and Appropriation; BM Juan Coy Nazarro Jr. – Committee on Environment and Natural Resources and Committee on Tourism and Arts, BM Alexander Fianza-Committee on Social Services, Women and Family and Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management; BM Fernando Balaodan Sr-Committee on Public Order and Safety and Committee on Education; BM Robert Canuto- Committee on Public Works and Infrastructures and Committee on Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs; and BM Ruben Paoad- Committee on Agriculture and Labor and Employment.
For the neophyte SP members, BM Johannes Amuasen chairs the Committee on Mining and Energy and Committee on Rules; BM Marie Rose Fongwan Kepes- Committee on Trade and Industry and Committee on Health and Sanitation; BM Joel Tingbaoen Jr. – Committee on Public, Transportation, Communication, Science and Technology and Committee on Cooperative and Civil Society Organization, and BM Neptali Camsol-Committee on Ways and Means.
Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Benguet President BM Jestoni Balong-angey heads the Committee on Youth and Sports Development.Affairs; Liga ng Barangay – Benguet President BM Crispin Mariano – Committee on Barangay Affairs, and Philippine Councilors League President BM Cruso Daguioa Jr. – Committee on Land Use and Housing.
Indigenous People Mandatory Representative Recto Alawas will continue to chair the Committee on Indigenous Cultural Communities and IPs
The Committee of the Whole is chaired by the Vice Governor and all the board members are committee members.
Meanwhile, Felipe assured of the good working relationship between and among the SP members and they are expected to perform their duties very well.
He also assured of good working relations with Governor Melchor Diclas and Congressman Eric Go Yap as their offices will start coordinating on the Executive Legislative Agenda for the province and the other programs for the progress and development of the province.
Prior to the SP session, the new set of officials were presented during the flag raising ceremony at the provincial capitol . Diclas, Felipe and the board members, in their respective messages, vowed to leave politics out, and instead work together for the progress and development of Benguet. **JDP/ RMC- PIA-CAR
