APAYAO — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – Cordillera Regional Office continues to support fisherfolks who were affected by the COVID-19.
A total of 150 fisherfolks in the municipalities of Conner and Kabugao were given PhP 5,000.00 worth of cash and food assistance under the Cash and Food Subsidy Program for Marginal Farmers and Fisherfolk (CFSMFF) thru Republic Act 11494 or the Bayanihan to Recover As One Act. This is part of COVID-19 response and recovery interventions for the agriculture sector.
BFAR–CAR Regional Director Lilibeth Signey said the cash and food subsidy program aims to provide direct food and financial assistance to eligible fisherfolk registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors of the Department of Agriculture.
The cash assistance worth PHP3,000.00 can be claimed at any MLhullier branch while the PHP2,000.00 is in the form of goods such as half cavan rice, three dressed chicken and two trays of eggs.
The distribution of vouchers in the two towns was spearheaded by BFAR-CAR Director Signey, Apayao Provincial Fisheries Officer Meynard Domingo, CFSMFF Focal Person Hector De Guzman, together with Conner Mayor Martina Dangoy and Municipal Agriculturist Corazon Gasmeña in Conner; and Municipal Administrator Clarina Peralta in Kabugao.
The Malayugan Rice Grannary Farmers Association, as DA-recognized KADIWA supplier, facilitated the distribution of food assistance.
There are 13,092 eligible beneficiaries for the CFSMFF in the Cordillera region with 4,244 in Apayao. **JDP/RMC- PIA CAR
