The random drug testing done on around 100 personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Cordillera (BFP – CAR) yielded negative results.
BFP Cordillera Regional Director FSSupt Maria Sofia Mendoza ordered the surprise drug–testing of provincial and municipal fire marshals and non-commissioned officers during their regional command conference last July 20, in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign for clean governance.
Mendoza, in a statement, expressed her happiness that the results came negative which she said attest to their commitment to promote high standards of ethics and accountability in public service.
The negative results prove to the public that they can be confidence Cordillera fire fighters will do their duties with utmost responsibility, integrity and competence. They also serve as model citizens upholding public interest over their personal safety, Mendoza stressed.
The BFP-CAR will continuously pursue an intensive and unrelenting campaign against the use of dangerous drugs and other similar substances through an integrated system of planning, implementation and enforcement of anti-drug abuse policies, programs and projects. **JDP/CCD with reports from SFO1 Iren Borja
