Bontoc, Mountain Province – The Municipality of Bontoc will receive funding from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for the implementation of three approved project proposals related to culture, arts and music for this Fiscal Year 2022.
This, following the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the NCCA and the grantees on April 28, 2022, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol. The signing of the MOA coincided with the orientation of the NCCA grantees with regard to the implementation of their approved project proposals.
First is the approved project proposal of the Bontoc LGU through its proponents Elizabeth Farnican of the Municipal Tourism Office and Christy Mae Che-es of the Municipal Information Office on the Documentation of Bontoc Intangible Cultural Heritage: Bontoc Songs, Dances and Oral Literature. The NCCA represented by Executive Director Oscar Casaysay and the Bontoc LGU represented by Mayor Franklin Odsey inked a MOA for the implementation of the project of which the fund will be downloaded by the NCCA to the Bontoc LGU.
Second, the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS) project proposal “Kumekedse” will receive funding from the NCCA for the conduct of a workshop on mental health, spiritual and physical nourishment for teaching and non-teaching staff of the MPGCHS. The proponents are Caren Chugyawi and Estella Chumacog, both from the MPGCHS and Elizabeth Farnican from the Bontoc LGU. The NCCA represented by Executive Director Casaysay and the MPGCHS represented by School Head Atkinson Tudlong inked their signatures for the downloading of the fund to the school for the implementation of the project.
Third is the approved project proposal on Seminar-Workshop on the Development of Learning Activity Sheets in “Finuntok” Mother Tongue for Primary Grades. The proponents are Arnel Kisofen, Frauline Magwa, Susan Chugyawi and Elizabeth Farnican. The NCCA represented by Executive Director Casaysay and the grantee, Arnel Kisofen inked their signatures in the MOA.
The other grantees in Mountain Province are the proponents from the municipalities of Tadian, Natonin and Paracelis who submitted their project proposals to the NCCA for funding.
Mayor Odsey in his message thanked the NCCA for the approval of the project proposals submitted adding that the output will serve as reference materials readily available to the public.
