Bontoc, Mountain Province – In a simple, yet meaningful and joyful celebration, public and private school teachers in this municipality gathered at the Bontoc Central School today, September 29, 2023, in celebration of National Teachers’ Day.
Speaking before almost a hundred teachers, Bontoc Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., lauded and thanked the teachers for their hardship and the sacrifices they have to make to be able to effectively carry our heavy responsibilities of moulding the learners.
“Please know that we recognise your dedication, most likely whatever accomplishments your students have, you are part of it. And this should be a reminder to appreciate yourself even when no one else does. Pat yourself on the back, if no one else would. In the end, the greatest reward will be when your students succeed and come back to thank you for all you have done,” Tudlong remarked.
An educator himself who has been a part-time instructor at the Mountain Province State College (MPSPC), education is part of his top priorities under his administration’s roadmap ENLANGAKHA: Achieving the Vision for a Dynamic Bontoc. One of its pillars is Empowered Communities through strengthening the support to education and youth development.
Tudlong shared that in support of the education sector, the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) continues to allocate funds for financial assistance to all public schools, assistance in the Brigada Eskwela, Youth Leadership Summit, and the Municipal Student Financial Assistance Program. Likewise, the mayor assured the continuous assistance to the education sector.
Meanwhile, Mountain Province Schools Division Superintendent Benilda Daytaca commended the teachers for their passion and commitment to delivering a quality education to all I-Fontok learners.
Also in attendance during the event are Mountain Province Congressman Maximo Dalog, Jr., Bontoc Schools District Supervisor, School Heads and School Principals, and students from the public and private schools. To give more life to the occasion, students from the different schools entertained the teachers with songs and dances. ** Alpine L. Killa-Malwagay, Bontoc LGU
