Bontoc, Mountain Province – In a significant move towards promoting sustainable agriculture, the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg), has distributed free-range chicks to 53 organic agriculture practitioners.
According to Assistant Municipal Agriculturist Catherine Agcon, a total of 530 free-range chicks were distributed to the beneficiaries during the turnover held earlier today, November 10, 2023, at the Municipal Capitol.
The program aims to support and encourage organic farming practices in the municipality as well as to contribute to the development of a more eco-friendly and resilient local agriculture sector.
Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., highlighted the importance of organic farming practices to the development of a more eco-friendly local agriculture.
The continuing support to local farmers is aligned with the current administration’s roadmap, “ENLANGAKHA: Achieving the Vision For A Dynamic Bontoc,” with Empowering Communities as one of its pillars which involves the enhancement of the community’s knowledge and skills, along with the initiation of income-generating livelihood projects. **Aprilyn Pangesban & Christy Mae C.
