Bontoc, Mountain Province – The first Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) meeting to be presided over by the new administration was held on August 17, 2022, at the Municipal Capitol Auditorium.
The council convened to discuss issues and accomplishments that contributed to the maintenance of peace and order in this capital town including the following: the decrease in the town’s crime rate; social programs like financial assistance to indigents; disaster response and management in relation to the July 27 earthquake; the campaign for COVID-19 Vaccination; the ongoing Dengue Prevention measures, and others.
In a separate interview, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., lauded all the council members for their continued support resulting in the town’s relative peace and safety.
“We must find innovative means to further develop Bontoc by gradually and sustainably opening education, tourism, and other industries. These can only happen when there is peace in our communities and when we work together for a dynamic and a more progressive Bontoc” he added.
The meeting was attended by members of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen, Department Heads and Assistant Heads of the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU), Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Lourdes Claire Peel, barangay officials of the 16 barangays of Bontoc, representatives from the Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS), Bontoc Municipal Fire Station (MFS), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Department of Education-MPSDO, TESDA, 54th IB 5ID Philippine Army, and Civil Society Organizations. **CHRISTY MAE F.
