BONTOC, Mtn. Prov.– A cadaver was found submerged in a pool of liquid pig manure in a pigpen in the morning of September 8, 2017 by a concerned citizen at Sitio Khawa, Samoki, this town.
Personnel of the Bontoc Municipal Police Station led by Police Inspector Glenn Apangchan, officer-in-charge together with Dr. Diga Gomez of the Municipal Health Office responded to a cellular phone call about the cadaver at about 6:20 AM of September 8.
Police report identified the victim as John Kalang-ad Toyokan, 54 years old, married, utility worker at Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School, Poblacion, Bontoc and a resident of Sitio Khawa, Samoki.
Initial Investigation disclosed that at about 9:00 PM of September 7, 2017, victim was noticed by Jeffrey Chaokas as allegedly drunk and going home after which the following morning, the body was found in the fluid of pig manure of a pigpen.
Physical examination conducted by Gomez revealed that the underlying cause of death is drowning.
The post mortem examination report of Gomez further stated that there were no superficial injuries noted except for a linear abrasion, superficial on his right knee. It was however noted, that copious brown liquid (that of pig manure) was coming out from his nose and mouth.
Around 6:40 AM of September 8, the cadaver was brought home by concerned citizens and members of the Bontoc Police.
“When we asked from witnesses, they said that he was drunk that night and on his way home. We were about to call for the SOCO but the residents and family members present said that there’s no need for the personnel of the SOCO to come since they are aware that due to his drunkenness that he fell into the pool of pig manure.”, Apangchan said in an interview at the Bontoc MPS.** Ferdie Cariño Castañeda
