BAGUIO CITY – Nominations for the Outstanding Senior Citizens Achievers Awards (OSCAA) are now received at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CWSDO) headed by Liza Bulayungan, FBASECA/Office of Senior Citizens Affairs office (OSCA) and Office of City Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda as chair of the committee on Social Services, Women and Urban Poor, at city hall.
The nomination forms are available at the CSWDO/FBASECA/OSCA and office of Councilor Tabanda, with a deadline of submission 4 PM, Sept. 30, at the same offices.
The OSCAA is part of the observation of senior citizen month, with awarding ceremonies scheduled in the later part of October.
The following criteria for nominees are:
• Must be 65 years old and above;
• Have accomplished activities that contribute to the upliftment of senior citizens within Baguio;
• Consistently supported programs and services for senior citizens;
• Must be nominated by a recognized barangay or city-based Senior Citizens Organization; and,
• Only one nominee per family shall be accepted.
The following should be submitted on or before the deadline:
• The accomplished nominee information sheet
• Nomination form with attachment (certificates, proof of accomplishment) and acknowledgement of nominee;
• Letter of endorsement from recognized senior citizen organization addressed to Ms. Liza Bulayungan, CSWD Officer.
Disqualification of the nominee may be due to death of the nominee during assessment, and failure to submit nomination documents within the prescribed deadline.
The screening committee shall thoroughly look over the nominees’ submitted documents, rank these and choose the senior citizen awardees.
The theme for elderly week which is celebrated for a month in Baguio is “Nakatatandang Pilipino: May Halaga at Karapatan, May Boses at Ambag sa Bayan.”
Health and wellness activities are scheduled for the elderly, as with livelihood materials distribution, tree planting, centenarians’ day, and service caravan. ** jgfianza
