BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – – The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) is pushing for new programs and initiatives to further strengthen the Philippine cooperative sector especially for the development of micro and small cooperatives in the country.
Undersecretary Joseph “Joy” Encabo, CDA Chairperson, affirmedthis during the culmination program of the 30th anniversary celebration of CDA Cordillera Regional Office on February 28.
Encabo said he is currently working in expanding CDA’s mandateto be an agency at work and to further the development of cooperatives.
CDA is currently expanding its network, both with the government and the private sector. It has inked partnership withthe Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the National Housing Authority and private entities Century Tuna and Northstar, he shared.
Under Encabo’s directive, CDA also started “Biyaheng Kooperatiba” for the agency to reach out to the development issues and concerns of all cooperatives.

“I will ensure that all CDS (cooperative development specialists) will be with you, help you, provide assistance and support your needs”, he said.
With more initiatives under CDA’s plans and programs for 2022 and beyond, Encabo calls on the support of Cordillera cooperatives in pushing the movement forward.
“Mga ka-coop, I may never be the best CDA Chairperson but I guarantee you, I will work hard for the movement, for CDA and for you. As we move forward, join us to the journey of the Cooperative Development Authority 2022 and beyond.”
“Mga ka-coop, I hope that this will be the moment for us not only to enrich the character, principles and the culture of our sector – and that is the Philippine Cooperative”, he added.
Joining Encabo as guests during the program were CDA Assistant Secretaries Myria Paradillo and Vidal Villanueva III.
The officials joined CDA – CAR Regional Director Marieta Hwang in awarding certificate of recognitions to 11 Cordillera Cooperatives that registered with them in their first year of operation (1992) and are still active and going strong, andLoyalty awards to personnel who are with CDA – CAR for 15 years or more.
