La Trinidad, Benguet- The Regional Office- Cordillera Administrative Region launched its commemoration of the 25th Founding Anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) by highlighting success stories from partnerships towards access, equity, and global excellence.
Being a region that was once minoritized in terms of development programs, CHED CAR has assisted the evolution of the region to become the educational hub of the North. CHEDC CAR is now serving 84,539 students through 42 accredited Public and Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) offering numerous quality programs.
CHED was established on May 18, 1994 through Republic Act No. 7722 as a separate governing entity covering both public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). It has facilitated in the region the recognition of Centers of Excellence (COE) and Centers of Development (COD) programs while endorsing the autonomous status of three Private HEIs.
