The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through its Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG) Program and Higher Education Development Fund (HEDF) downloaded fund assistance to Benguet State University for three (3) Projects.
The projects and funding grant include: BSU Flexible Learning eCenter (BSU FLeCs)-PhP25 Million, Enhancement of Engineering and Technology Laboratories of BSU-PhP25 Million and Smart Library Facilities for BSU Campuses- PhP7.5 Million.
The Memorandum of Agreement for these projects were signed by CHED Chair J. Prospero E. De Vera III and BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila. Prior to this, the Projects were approved and endorsed by the BSU Board of Regents.
According to BSU President Felipe Salaing Comila, with the acquisition of equipment under these projects, the delivery of services to its primary clients, the students, will be strengthened.
He added that the Smart Library Facilities Project will include the Buguias and Bokod Campuses.
Project proposals were submitted to CHED for evaluation. For the BSU FLeCs, proposals were submitted by SUCs and were evaluated by CHED “..according to prioritization indicated in item IV of CMO No.9,s.2020 based on given guidelines. CHED through funds under RA 11494 or the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.
As per MOA, “CHED provides funding for higher education institutions (HEIs) to ensure their long-term sustainability; strengthen their capacity to respond and remain relevant to regional, national and global priorities; and enhance the quality of their educational programs and services.”
The Project Leaders of these undertakings are Mr. Paul G.Garcia for Smart Campuses, Engr. Leonardo Dumalhin for the Engineering and Technology and Mr.Lauren Kipaan for the Smart Libraries.
President Comila said that the University will continue to pursue engagements leading towards SUC Level V, thus; it needs fund generation to enhance the delivery of quality education to the students and other clients across its four fold function: Instruction, Research, Extension and Production. **GTBengwayan
