BAGUIO CITY – The Deaf Unity Association of Baguio City (DUABC) will host, for the first time, the 7th Northern Luzon Deaf Camp with the theme, “Camaraderie and Empowerment Towards Deaf Unity” and 6th Northern Luzon Deaf Basketball and Volleyball Friendship Games 2018 sometime November this year.
In a letter to councilor Arthur Allad-iw, DUABC president Grace Anne Pico revealed that an estimated 200 delegates from La Trinidad, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, Cagayan and Baguio are expected to attend the activities.
Pico explained that the events aim to showcase the talents and skills of deaf people from the area. The activities will also enhance and guide the participants on how to lead normal and productive lives, she added.
A member of the Philippine Federation of the Deaf, the DUABC aims to make the camping event a healthy and safe experience for the delegates as they showcase the Summer Capital’s natural environment.
Allad-iw chairs the city council’s committee on livelihood, employment, cooperatives and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
