The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) led by CSWD Officer Liza Daisa Bulayungan convened last June 19, 2024 the Family Month steering committee to plan activities to be undertaken during the celebration of the Family Month this September.
Social Welfare Officer II Coralie Dulnuan presided over the meeting for the finalization of the celebratory activities, budget discussion and the impact of last year’s celebration.
The Family Month committee will announce the final activities during Baguio City Public Information Office’s (PIO) Ugnayang Panlungsod on the last week of July.
Initial activities discussed were the kick-off program during city hall’s flag raising ceremony on September 2, LibTalk at the City Library, Observance of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Prevention Week, marriage enrichment counselling sessions, awarding of Natatanging Pamilya ng Baguio, Kainang Pamilya, and lecture series on family laws, child support, and custody.
A mass wedding for 20 couples will also take place. The committee is requested to recommend and screen partners who have been cohabiting for five years or more for the nuptials. This event will be in collaboration with the Local Civil Registry, spearheaded by Civil Registrar Luz Perez.
A Family Fair Day will be the main event of the month-long celebration, which aims to provide opportunities for families to reconnect and strengthen their bonds through various activities prepared by CSWDO and its partners.
Another meeting will be set to finalize all the activities and prepare for the kick-off, according to Dulnuan.
The discussion was attended by representatives from the office of Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, City Health Services Office (CHSO), PIO, City Library, LCR, Department of Education (DepEd), Uplife Movement, Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI)-Baguio, Federation of Baguio Senior Citizens Association, and a child representative. **Mileyvonne Tiamzon
