BAGUIO CITY– The city government conducted a re-orientation on the streamlined contact tracing process for the city’s contact tracers as part of the proactive moves to prevent the entry and spread of dreaded COVID 19 variants.
Participants included 70 contact tracers from the Baguio City Police Office, 30 from the Business Process Outsourcing , 32 encoders, 40 field contact tracers, and 30 members of the City’s lead Contact Tracing team.
“We should implement stringent contact tracing measures following the detection of additional Delta variant cases and local transmission in the country”, said Dr. Donna Tubera Panes of the City Health Services Office who was among the resource speakers.
She explained that the Delta variant is highly contagious, nearly twice as contagious as the other variants.
Some data suggest the Delta variant might cause more severe illness than previous strains in unvaccinated persons.
Mayor Benjie Magalong said the city is okay with its contact tracing,” Our cumulative contact tracing ratio is at one patient to 14 contacts (1-14) so we are good considering the fact that Delta variant’s infection rate is at 1:6 or1: 8. “
But still, the city is continuously working to improve its contact tracing capability.**JDP/JBZ- PIA-Baguio
