BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-Mountain Province has presented the election calendar, key guidelines, and updated voter statistics for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled on November 2, 2026.
Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. John Paul A. Martin, during a Kapihan forum on July 14, 2026, outlined the key dates to remember for this political exercise.
The filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) is from September 28 to October 5, 2026. Aspiring candidates are reminded that filing a COC requires the submission of mandatory documentary requirements, including a birth certificate issued either by the Philippine Statistics Authority or the Local Civil Registrar.
“In the past, madaming disqualification cases as to their age, residency, specifically sa age and citizenship. Sa tulong ng birth certificate maiiwasan ang mga ito. Sa filing pa lang, masasalang na,” Martin said.
For the election timeline, campaigning is prohibited from September 28 to October 21.
Election period is from October 3 to November 9, 2026, and a nationwide gun ban will be in effect during this period.
The official campaign period for BSKE candidates is scheduled from October 22 to 31, 2026.
On November 1, the eve of Election Day, campaigning will again be prohibited, and a liquor ban will take effect.
On Election Day, Nov. 2, 2026, which coincides with the observance of All Souls Day, voting hours are set from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This early, Martin is calling on all aspiring candidates and voters to observe election laws to ensure peaceful, orderly, and credible polls in the province.
Mountain Province Police Provincial Office (PPO) Provincial Director Col. Marcelo B. Polig also shared that they will conduct a comprehensive planning in order to maintain peace and order in the community during these important dates.
