Coffee organizations in the Cordillera were the top three during the 2016 Coffee Expo in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental last December 1-2, 2016.
Sagada Arabica Coffee Growers Producers Organization (SACGPO) headed by manager Vincent Andawe was recognized as 1st in the Promotion of Coffee products in the said Coffee Expo. While Tuba Benguet Coffee Growers Association (TUBENGCOGA) led by Ms. Shirley Palao-ay and Bobok Bisal Organic Arabica Arabica Coffee Producers and Growers Association Inc. (BBOACPGAI) headed by Ms. Josefa Bengeg were recognized as 2nd and 3rd, respectively. They were given certificates of recognition.
The event was a joint project of the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Offices (DA-RFOs), Local Government Units (LGUs) and Coffee Organizations.
Moreover, the event was for the promotion coffee products, thus, the SACGPO, TUBENGCOGA and BBOACPGAI promoted their own coffee products by providing free flowing coffee and product displays on the booths provided them. Each representative was also able to engage in “sales talk” with other participants and visitors.
