BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – – The Baguio City School of Arts and Trades (BCSAT) along Upper Session Road here is now transformed into the main campus, and together with the Regional Training Center located in Loakan Road, will serve as the core of the Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education or CSITE.
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Cordillera officials headed by Regional Director Jovencio Ferrer recently led the launching of the CSITE in a simple program, unveiling of marker and a kapihan media forum.
Invited guests were TESDA Deputy Director General for Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD) Aniceto “John” Bertiz II, I, National Institute for TESD Executive Director David Bungallon, Baguio City Congressman Marquez Mark Go, former TESDA – CAR Director Francisco Jucar, Regional TESD Committee Chairperson Betty Lourdes Tabanda and partner regional line agencies, private TESDA training institutions and higher education institutions.
The CSITE was envisioned and conceptualized by Bungallon and Jucar during their stint as BCSAT administrator and TESDA director, respectively.
The CSITE was realized through Congressman Go’s House Bill 7264, and was officially established by virtue of Republic Act 11192 signed into law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on January 16, 2019.
The CSITE under the supervision of TESDA, will be the integration of BCSAT, the regional and provincial training centers and other state run technical – vocational institutions in the region. It is mandated to strengthen the region and the country’s tech – voc education to immediately effect a major shift towards the development of a world class Filipino workforce.
Go, in his message, outlined the importance of CSITE in boosting the competitiveness of tech – voc schools and TVET graduates in the Cordillera.
“The creation of CSITE is a resounding recognition of the necessity of innovation and ingenuity in order for our tech – voc schools to become globally competitive”
“The creation of CSITE, ultimately, is a whole statement of faith on the strength and potential of our people. Today, we are not only launching an institution; we are launching our aspiration for TVET and for the Cordillera workforce,” Go stressed.

Ferrer expressed gratitude to TESDA – CAR and all of its partners and stakeholders for the establishment of CSITE.
