Cadet 1st Class Tracy Anselmo Miranda of Baguio City was awarded Athletic Saber award for Male category for graduating with a minimum average of 8.5 in all courses offered by the Sports and Physical Development Unit and for obtaining the highest overall rating in all athletic-related activities, intramural, and sports participation for his four years at the PMA.
Miranda received the coveted Athletic Saber from Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong during the commencement rites of the Siklab-Laya or the (Sundalong Isinilang na Kasangga at Lakas ng Ating Bayan para sa Kalayaan) Class of 2025 at Fort del Pilar, Baguio City on Saturday, May 17.
The 22-year old Miranda is an avid cyclist who frequently joined the Baguio Sunday Bike Ride with Mayor Magalong prior to his entry to the PMA during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was a volleyball varsity player in his elementary year’s and a basketball varsity player in high school.
At the PMA, served as the Regimental Athletic Officer and a proud member of Echo Company. He also represented the Academy in the 10 kilometer- run event of the Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League, the region’s largest collegiate sports competition.
Before him, among the Cordillerans who received the coveted Athletic Saber award include C1L Jake Matiw from Bontoc, Mountain Province, in 2024; Cadet C1L John Rozz Class Oggang of Kalinga in 2023; Cadet 1CL Jaevin Awingan Latugan of Tanudan, Kalinga in 2021; Cadet 1CL Mary Rose Manganip Alda of Baguio City in 2020, and Kimberly Joy Saliw-an Baculi of Kalinga in 2019.
Miranda is one of the 19 from the Cordillera region belonging to the 266-strong PMA “Siklab-Laya” Class of 2025 who graduated on May 17 with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the guest of honor and speaker.
Miranda whose father is a van operator and his mother a housewife , said joining the PMA is a dream come true. He is joining the Philippine Navy. **JDP/RMC-PIA CAR
