BAGUIO CITY(PIA) — A scholar of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently graduated with flying colors from Benguet State University.
Novy Mae Delmas from Bauko, Mountain Province, a beneficiary of the DAR Scholarship Program for Dependents of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (DSP-DARBs), has completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, graduating cum laude.
The scholarship was crucial to Delmas’ success, enabling her to concentrate on her education rather than worrying about the financial aspects of studying.
“Daytoy ket dakkel nga tulong ta haan kun nga kasapulan nga panpanunuten jay financial nga usarek, nu di ket nakafocus ak iti studies ko, jay thesis ko, exams ko,” the scholar said.
(This is a huge help because I did not have to think of finance. This allowed me to focus more on my studies, thesis, and exams.)
Delmas thanked the DAR, noting that the scholarship provided help to her family especially since one of her siblings is also in college.
“Salamat unay ta nakatulong daytoy unay ti pamilyak karo di ag-eseskwela ak ket agsabsabay kami jay manang ko nga ageskwela ti college,” Delmas said.
(Thank you so much for this scholarship because this helped a lot to my family, considering that two of us were in college.)
Manuela Delmas, the beneficiary’s mother, also expressed gratitude to the agency. She shared that she wasn’t sure if her daughter would have been able to graduate without the help of the DAR.
“Kayat ko met nga i-express ti panagyaman ko kadakayo nga staff ti DAR ta nu awan kayo baka haan ko ammu nu nakaeskwela daytoy anak ko ta duwa ti kolehiyok, ijay MPSU-Tadian jay maysa. Thank you, Lord, ta nakalpas met isuna. Thank you, Lord, met ta dakkel ti tulong yu ket at least ket nalpas daytoy inaudi nga anak ko,” she said.
[I would like to express my gratefulness to DAR because without you, I do not know if my child would have been able to finish her studies, because I have two children in college. The other one is at MPSU-Tadian. Thank you, Lord, at least my youngest also finished her studies.]
DSP-DARBs is a program designed to provide qualified dependents of the beneficiaries of the agrarian reform program an opportunity to study and complete an agriculture-related, four-year college degree course from state universities and colleges with financial support from DAR under a competitive screening system.
Under this program, scholars get a monthly stipend of 3,000.00, paid directly to them for every month that they are in actual school attendance in the first and second semesters of the school year.
They also enjoy a book allowance of P2,000.00 per semester for their books, school supplies, and materials needed.
Transportation allowance of P500.00 per month, lodging allowance of 500.00 per month, and a thesis allowance of P10,000.00 (if applicable) are provided to scholars. There’s also a graduation fee not exceeding P5,000.00. **JDP/CVBT-PIA-CAR
