Bontoc, Mountain Province – In a notable visit to the Municipal Capitol, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Regional Director Araceli San Jose, accompanied by DILG-Mountain Province Provincial Director Evelyn Trinidad, paid a courtesy call on Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., on February 13, 2024.
The visit was not only a display of camaraderie but also a platform for acknowledging Bontoc’s remarkable accomplishments in local governance.
One of the highlights of the visit was the presentation of a Plaque of Recognition to the municipality for passing the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) for the year 2022. This recognition underscores Bontoc’s commitment to promoting and safeguarding the rights and welfare of children within the community.
Also, RD San Jose awarded a Certificate of Recognition to the Municipality of Bontoc for achieving an IDEAL FUNCTIONALITY status. Bontoc garnered a total score of 96% in the 2023 Functionality Assessment for the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) and Person with Disabilities Focal Person (PWDFP).
Further, this capital town has consistently achieved IDEAL FUNCTIONALITY in the assessment years 2021 and 2022.
The town’s dedication to financial transparency and accountability was also acknowledged as the Municipality of Bontoc received a Mark of Recognition for passing the 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping assessment.
Mayor Tudlong expressed his gratitude to the DILG for the recognition and highlighted the commitment of the Bontoc Local Government Unit to upholding standards of excellence in governance and ensuring the well-being of its residents.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our local government and our community. We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing the best governance for the people of Bontoc,” Tudlong added.
