CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA)– Health and local officials here are urged to hasten vaccination efforts to meet the target herd immunity by the end of the year.
Department of Health-Cordillera Assistant Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan said that based on the province’s vaccination target rating, Tabuk needs to give first dose to 49,515 individuals by November 30 to reach the 59,395 target individuals for second dose by December 30, 2021.
With the present vaccination rate of 26.38% or an average of 392 individuals jabbed per day, it would take Tabuk about 56 weeks or nine months to fully vaccinate its target population of 80,683, Pangilinan noted.
To achieve the target by December, the City Health Office has to vaccinate 2,761 individuals per day.
She assured DOH has available supply of COVID-19 vaccines that would ensure speedier inoculation.
Meanwhile, Mayor Darwin C. Estranero moved to bring the vaccination roll-out to the barangay level. He told the barangays to prepare their vaccination lists for the CHO’s schedule.
City Health Officer Henrietta S. Bagayao alerted the four rural health units on the city’s enhanced vaccination roll-out covering all 43 barangays by end of the year.
Estranero called on the support of all involved to protect the city from COVID-19. **JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga
