TINOC, Ifugao– A group of farmers here who opted to donate their tomatoes and other crops to the municipality of Lagawe and other towns had received more than P100,000 cash assistance from kind-hearted individuals.
The local government unit (LGU) of Tinoc turned over Php107,000.00 to the farmers to be divided among themselves according to the volume of crops they donated.
Said amount was collected from various donors through a fundraising activity initiated by Jonathan Biwit and Maureen Inhumang of LGU-Lagawe intended for Tinoc farmers who were not able to sell their crops in trading areas during the enhanced and general community quarantine.
Due to lack of buyers because of travel restrictions during the ECQ, the Tinoc farmers donated their agricultural produce which were utilized as additional relief assistance.
“We are all affected in this pandemic, and as we fight this virus, our Filipino spirit of “tinnulong” has been very active. As our farmers generously gave their crops for donation due to lack of buyers, we hope this (money) could be of help to them,” they said.
Jayser Bandao, one of the recipients, extended his deepest gratitude to the donors who shared their blessings, most especially to those who initiated and processed the donation. He said they will use the money to buy their needs especially food.
May the good Lord repay what you have shared, he added. **JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao
