BAGUIO CITY — The downtrend of Coronavirus disease (COVID – 19) cases in the Cordillera continues but the Department of Health regional office (DOH – CAR) reminds the public not to put their guards down and continue practicing the minimum health standards and safety protocols to protect themselves and their families.
As of the December 26 bulletin of the DOH – CAR, active COVID – 19 cases are down to 70 with Benguet having 33 cases, followed by Ifugao with 14, Baguio City with nine, Kalinga with seven, Abra with three and Apayao and Mountain Province with two each.
As to the condition of the cases, 26 are asymptomatic, 14 with mild symptoms, seven moderate, one severe and 22 are critical.
Transmission of the disease continued to decrease in the past three weeks wherein from 100 cases for the period December 4 to 10, it decreased to 51 cases from December 11 to 17 and further dipped to 35 cases from December 18 – 24.
There are also a total of 391 recoveries recorded in the Cordillera from December 4 to 24, DOH – CAR data shows.
In spite of the downtrend of COVID–19 cases in the region, the DOH – CAR reminds the public not to be complacent and continue to practice the minimum public health standards and safety protocols as advised by the health department and their respective local government units.
She also reminds the public to be wary of other health concerns that the yuletide season may bring such as cold weather–related illnesses and food and water borne diseases.
