BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is putting up a total of 806 isolation and quarantine beds in the region, an official of the agency said on Wednesday.
Engr. Nelia Antonio, chief of the DPWH-CAR maintenance division, said there are seven facilities and the government is spending PHP64,565,394 to complete them.
Baguio’s former Sto. Niño hospital, which was closed for over 11 years, is being renovated using an allocation of PHP11.68 million. This has a capacity of 150 beds and is now 82 percent complete.
The PHP4.45 million 10-bed capacity facility in Danglas, Abra is now 50 percent complete, while the PHP8.12-million 20-bed facility in Tublay, Benguet is 47.9 percent complete.
On the other hand, the PHP2.08 million 20-bed facility in Bauko, Mountain Province is 32 percent finished
Also ongoing are the PHP12.95-million improvement of health facility for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients in Teachers Camp here that can accommodate 560 beds; the 16-bed capacity facility in Benguet province that cost PHP12.98 million; and the 30-bed facility worth PHP12.25 million in Kabugao, Apayao province.
Based on the data of the Department of Health (DOH)-CAR on Tuesday, the Cordillera has a total of 410 active cases.
This city recorded the most number of active cases in the region with 198; Benguet has 182. **PNA
