BUGUIAS, Benguet (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) together with the local government unit of Buguias launched a Negosyo Center in the municipality particularly at the Buguias Public Market in Abatan on Friday (Nov. 11) to bring services closer to the entrepreneurs.
The program started with the blessing of the Negosyo Center Office and unveiling of the signage.
Gracing the event are DTI-Cordillera Regional Director Juliet Lucas, Assistant Regional Director and DTI Baguio-Benguet Provincial Director Samuel Gallardo, Governor Melchor Diclas, and Mayor Ruben Tindaan.
A memorandum of agreement was also signed between the municipal LGU of Buguias and the DTI Baguio-Benguet for the management of the center.
The center will be responsible in promoting ease of doing business and in facilitating access for services for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises within its jurisdiction. These include various business advisory services, business registration assistance, business information and advocacy services, as well as acts as vehicle for public-private partnership, among others.
“It is our desire that this municipality will be coming up with more products and businesses that will propel the economic development of this municipality,” Lucas said as she appealed for the support of the concerned stakeholders to the established center in the municipality.
Thru the center, services will be brought closer to the entrepreneurs, Gallardo said expounded.
“Kayat mi nga ipakaammo kenyayo nga nu adda man ti programa yo nga paradtoy munisipyo ti Buguias, you can coordinate with our business counselor tapnu maipakaammo mi iti LGU nu anya ti mayat nga direksyon na ti negosyo ditoy area,” he said.
Lucas also emphasized the importance of paying taxes which she said is essential to development.
“Taxes is not an issue to be talking about. Do not be afraid of them, instead, make it as a responsibility at the same time, you are sure that when you are doing that, development is coming,” Lucas said.
Diclas meanwhile, expressed his gratitude to DTI and support to the center which he said a big help in the business industry of the town.
Tindaan also shared his vision for the further development of the agriculture sector and business industry in the municipality expressing hopes for more interventions from the government agencies for the realization of these concepts.
The Negosyo Center in Buguias is the 12th center launched in Baguio-Benguet. It will be manned by a business counselor designated by the DTI. **JDP/DEG-PIA CAR
