Bontoc, Mountain Province – Two business establishments in this capital town were recognized for upholding the rights and welfare of consumers while practicing responsible business where consumers get the best value of their money.
Rio Chico Marketing and Georfitz Dry Goods Trading were both conferred the Bronze Bagwis Award of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) after they passed the evaluations conducted by the National Bagwis Certification Committee.
Rio Chico with its proprietor Jennifer Basco is engaged in computer, cellphone and Information Technology (IT) supplies while Georfitz Dry Goods Trading deals with house wares, decors and appliances is owned and managed by Georgia Bugnay.
Rio Chico with its proprietor Jennifer Basco received the Certificate of Recognition and Bagwis Seal of Excellence from Officer-in-Charge Mabel Banggawan of the DTI-Provincial Office, Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen and Sangguniang Bayan member and Committee on Market/ Commerce/ Trade and Cooperative Chairperson John Enngeg May 17, 2021 at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol coinciding with the regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremonies.
According to Banggawan, the Bagwis Program has been crafted by the DTI to give due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers while engaged in responsible business practices.
She explained that award has three levels namely gold, silver and bronze depending on the criteria met by the businesses.
Rio Chico and Georfitz Dry Goods Trading who both conferred with the bronze Bagwis Award have complied with fair trade laws, provide exemplary customer services and promote the welfare of their employees.
