PARACELIS, Mountain Province – The farmers, fisherfolk, and livestock raisers here were feted with a tribute “highlighted those who feed our communities and build our future” during the 2025 Farmers’ Day, a part of the commemoration of the 63rd Foundation Day dubbed as the Kakarefin Festival.
It is to be noted that this eastern far-flung municipality is blessed with a wide and fertile land; a place known for being the land of opportunities in the eastern front; an emerging tourist destination in the province.
With the theme “Inobasyon sa Pagsasaka para sa Masaganang Ani, Pagproceso para sa Dagdag Kita, Pag-unlad ay Matatamasa”, the farmers are being supported with technology innovation and assistance under the farmers’ programs and under the Barangay Muna flagship of the provincial government.
Rolando Bragado, Executive Assistant and who represented Governor Bonifacio c. Lacwasan, Jr., relayed the encouragement “to work together to grow more and prosper as one”.
Mary Jane Tumapang, Provincial Agriculturist, lauded the farmers for their crucial role in food security and economic development. “Your efforts are truly valued and appreciated”, she said.
Reelected Mayor Marcos G. Ayangwa rallied the farmers gathered to celebrate their special day as they were reminded of their crucial role in making the town popularized as Kakarefin Land as “the Land of the Golden Seeds”.
The mayor expressed his deepest gratitude for their hard work that brought ‘food on tables, prosperity to our economy, and pride to our municipality”. 50 farmers’ organizations joined the celebration.
Meanwhile, Congressman Maximo Dalog, Jr., as represented by Florencio Balog-ang, underscored the importance of working together to support sustainable agriculture by providing farmers with access to resources, training, and technology, and ensuring fair market practices.
He called on all sectors to support the cause of the farmers.
Present during the occasion, aside from the mentioned speakers, were Vice Mayor Djarma Rafael, Poblacion Barangay Captain and newly elected Board Member Roy Gamonnac, personnel of the municipal government, farmers, and members of the community.**Roger Sacyaten
