LA PAZ, Abra (PIA) — The Andres B. Bernos Memorial Hemodialysis Center at the La Paz Municipal Hospital is now open to offer free dialysis sessions for Abrenians.
This newly opened dialysis clinic has 18 dialysis units to provide outpatient dialysis services.
La Paz Mayor and League of Municipalities of the Philippines national president JB Bernos and Congresswoman Ching Bernos with local chief executives and partner offices led the opening of the health facility in Mudeng, La Paz, recently.
During the official launching, the first batch of patients expressed gratitude for the center that will save medical costs and bring health services closer to them. They also received welcome kits, groceries, and one sack of rice each from the Office of the Congresswoman.
Bernos said that he took inspiration of establishing a free dialysis center in memory of his father, Andres B. Bernos, a diabetic dialysis patient.
“This reminds me of Dad, so I wanted this facility to be free. I wanted the services to be free, free of any charge, lahat and if we can extend further services like ambulance, laboratory fees and other services,” JB Bernos said.
The Andres B. Bernos Memorial Hemodialysis Center is accredited by PhilHealth as a free-standing dialysis clinic that can provide outpatient dialysis services. The certificate of accreditation issued on August 19, is valid from August 12, 2024 to December 31, 2024. Accredited centers will offer PhilHealth coverage for drugs and medicines, X-ray, laboratory and supplies, and dialysis room subject to the rules and guidelines as provided for by PhilHealth Board Resolution No. 532, series of 2003.
“Isu nga libre daytoy tapno ikkan tayo ti saan laeng a lima a tawen a nayon ti biag dagiti agdi-dialysis a kakailiantayo, nu di ket ma-extend ti 10 years or 15 years. Daytoy ti rugi mapasayaat ti seribisio ti salun-at ditoy probinsia tayo,” Cong. Bernos said in her message.
[This is free so that our townmates who are undergoing dialysis will live not only for additional five years but maybe extended to 10 to 15 years. This is a start of better health service in our province.]
The center is strategically located in Mudeng to accommodate patients from the capital town of Bangued and its neighboring municipalities of Danglas, Dolores and Lagayan. **CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra
