The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is set to recognize this year’s outstanding government workers whose dedication, integrity, and contributions have made a meaningful impact on public service through the Gawad Lingkod Bayani.
There are three honor awards under the program:
Gawad Lingkod Bayan ng Pangulo—granted to those who have made exceptional contributions through innovative ideas or impactful actions of national significance, particularly in the areas of public interest, security, and patrimony, pursuant to Executive Order No. 588, s. 1992.
Gawad Dangal ng Bayan—conferred on government employees who have demonstrated extraordinary acts of public service and consistent adherence to high ethical standards as outlined in Republic Act No. 6713, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Gawad Pagasa—given to an individual or group of individuals for outstanding contributions that directly benefit more than one department of the government pursuant to Executive Order No. 292, s. 1987 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
Formerly known as the Search for Outstanding Government Workers, the Gawad Lingkod Bayani is part of the government’s rewards and incentives mechanism under the Honor Awards Program (HAP). The new name aims to capture the deeper sense of pride, sacrifice, and purpose embodied by the country’s most dedicated civil servants.
CSC Chairperson Marilyn B. Yap emphasized that the new name in Filipino is not only more rooted, authentic, and nationally relevant but also aligned with the CSC’s campaign, “Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” which encourages government employees to uphold the highest standards of service, ethics, and professionalism by recognizing exceptional performance.
“Lingkod Bayani” does not merely describe an award; it sets a standard. We want to celebrate those who serve selflessly and challenge others to rise to the same level of public service,” added Chairperson Yap.
The Regional Committees on Awards convened by each CSC Regional Office selected a total of 202 regional winners nationwide. They will vie for the national honor awards through evaluation by the National Committees on Awards.
