BONTOC– More than 4,000 t-shirts were distributed to the municipalities of Natonin, Sadanga, Bauko, and Bontoc from November to December 2016.
The shirts are an offshoot of the partnership of the Office of Congressman Maximo Dalog together with the Children International Philippines Inc. (CIPI) in their attempt to bring lasting change in the community especially to the children living in poverty.
Mostly distributed shirts are colored gray and some red. All shirts are labeled with WARRIORS DASH from the Reebok brand. The distribution of shirts coincided with the inauguration of the different school buildings that were funded through the efforts of Congressman Dalog.
It can be recalled that sometime in 2015 the Office of Congressman Dalog obtained more than forty (40) volumes of books from the CIPI and were turned over to the Department of Education and were distributed to different schools in Mountain Province.
In 2016, Toms shoes and soaps were also given to identified organizations and day care centers in Mountain Province. Likewise, in June 2016, various medical supplies amounting to Php1.8M were also turned over to Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital and Bontoc General Hospital. Medical kits and supplies were also distributed to the identified District Hospital, Rural Health Units and Barangay Heath Stations in the province in July 2016 all of which came from the same organization.
The Office of the Congressman shouldered the shipment of the commodities from the port until the distribution to the identified beneficiaries. The congressman explained the need for a proper documentation in the distribution since it is a requirement from the organization.
Some more or less 3,000 shirts are expected to be distributed starting next week which also coincides with the scheduled inauguration of school buildings in the province. Additional commodities like thread and soap will also be given to the identified beneficiaries.
The partnership is expected to continue as additional supplies of mixed commodities are expected to arrive for the people of the province.
“We have partnered with the international organization to help our kakailians who are in need,” Dalog said. **Wabilyn M. Lomong-oy
