LAMUT, Ifugao (PIA) — The Ifugao State University (IFSU) has proudly commemorated its 105th founding anniversary and 16th charter year as a premier higher educational institution in the province.
Hundreds of personnel and students from its six campuses, along with representatives from government agencies, higher education institutions, and local officials, participated in the activities anchored on the theme, “Gotad ad IFSU: Celebrating a Milestone of Excellence, Heritage, and Sustainable Futures.”
The two-day celebration began on Oct. 13 with a thanksgiving mass, unveiling of markers, blessing of new buildings, and a cultural day. The day also highlighted the Alumni and Retirees Day where commendations were awarded to former alumni officers and members of the Board of Regents.
On the second day, activities included the “bullogan” (parade), an anniversary program, and a recognition and employees’ night held at the Luis Hora Gymnasium. Ifugao Governor Jerry Dalipog served as the guest of honor and speaker.
Dalipog congratulated IFSU on its milestone achievements, recognizing the university’s contributions to the development of the province and its people.
“May IFSU continue to shine as a symbol of hope, learning, and lasting heritage for our province, our region, and the entire nation,” he said.
IFSU President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon emphasized that the success of the university is the result of collaborative efforts among university officials, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, students, and other stakeholders.
“We reaffirm IFSU’s commitment to growth with purpose, leadership with integrity, and service with heart. May we continue to ACHIEVE more — for our people, for our province, and for the generations of Highlanders who will carry this legacy,” she said.
ACHIEVE, she noted, stands for Access and Equality; Competitiveness and Quality; Holistic, Transformative Higher Education, Innovation; Education Resilience and Lifelong Learning; Visionary and Ethical Leadership and Effective and Efficient Governance.
She cited the University’s recent achievements such as ISO certification, Philippine Quality Award Level II recognition, and international citations in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds Stars, and World University Ranking for Innovation.
IFSU was founded in 1920 as Nayon Settlement Farm School by American educators, offering basic education and agricultural training. The institution attained university status in 2009 under Republic Act No. 9720, with Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon as its first president.
In 2018, Dr. Codamon-Dugyon was appointed as IFSU’s first woman president, a role she continues to hold to present. **JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao
