Ifugao State University (IFSU) takes a leap forward in promoting traditional craftsmanship as its Competency Assessment Center for Handloom Weaving (Upright) NCII secured official accreditation from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). This achievement makes the center the first authorized facility to conduct weaving assessments in the entire Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Luzon, and the second in the Philippines.
On May 20, 2024, a TESDA team evaluated the center’s readiness, including documents, tools and equipment, and the facility itself. The team consisted of Regional Office Representative Daisy D. Jamorabon (participating online), Provincial Office Representative Ellayne B. Abellera, and Technical Expert Panel Adelina T. Ngopangop. This rigorous assessment culminated in the accreditation, allowing the center to certify handloom weavers based on National Competency II (NCII) standards.
The newly accredited center is now accepting applications for Handloom Weaving (Upright) NCII assessment. Aspiring applicants can visit the Department of Extension and Training office to process their application, along with a passport-sized ID picture and an assessment fee of PhP1,298.00 only.
This accreditation strengthens IFSU’s established role as a Training and Assessment Center across various programs, including agriculture, computer science, tourism, hotel and restaurant management, and other technical courses.
